The Queensland Rugby Club was formed by a group of rugby enthusiasts in Brisbane in 1962. The original Club was housed in leased premises in Charlotte Street in the central business district of Brisbane.
Since that time, the Club has become one of Queensland's most prestigious business, professional, sporting and social clubs. It now presents three of the State's most stylish and versatile venues offering superb and diverse facilities for members and guests (and non-member clients wishing to stage functions and events).
In 1970, the Club transferred to premises at Ballymore where it continues to operate as the Queensland Rugby Club Ballymore.
In 1999, additional new premises were leased on the Brisbane River in the city centre. This new facility, known as the Queensland Rugby Club Downtown, provides a highly regarded city-based club for QRC Members and their guests.
In early 2010, the Club will see the initial opening of its newest development, the Queensland Rugby Club at Rugby Quay, located within the Brisbane's prestigious CBD Riverside Centre complex. Stage One of Rugby Quay consists of The Strand Event Centre and the public restaurant, Tempo. Stage Two, due also to open in early 2010, will include the Queensland Rugby Club's new riverside members facility which incorporates a private Members Dining Room, a Members Bar and the exclusive Benefactor Lounge.
